"I was very impressed with the quality of this training and the amount of content Jenni packed in. The pace and pitch was perfect. There were lots of practical ideas to weave into a class. Jenni is a wonderful teacher. She is kind, compassionate and knowledgeable and draws on her extensive experience of working with people experiencing cancer. Highly recommended."

"I’m just exiting cancer treatment and this workshop has helped me reclaim my identity as a yoga teacher. Jenny has a warmly empathetic teaching style and is very well informed about breast cancer. I’ve loved knowing that my practice is always there for me during my yoga journey, but now I feel confident taking my experience to students."

Venetia Mayman, Attendee, Teaching Yoga for Breast Cancer with Jenni Stone

Course Outline:

This specialist workshop is for yoga teachers who are working with people who have breast cancer, or would like to build up knowledge to be able to welcome people with breast cancer into class or for those experiencing breast cancer themselves.

Over 80% of breast cancer patients have some kind of surgery. This workshop will give an overview of the different types of surgery and the impact of treatment on the individual. We will look in detail at post surgery rehabilitation in the short, medium and long term with a focus on suitable asana practise. There will also be guidance on other useful yoga practises such as pranayama, meditation and relaxation.

By the end of this training you will:

  • have a working knowledge of the different stages of breast cancer surgery recovery
  • understand how to support people through asana, breath work and relaxation techniques
  • know clear sign posts to send people when teaching them is not appropriate
  • take away valuable resources you can refer back to time again

This session will be recorded and you will receive support material for future reference to those attending the workshop.

"I would highly recommend the Yoga for Breast Cancer CPD workshop. It's a sad reality that most of us will encounter students or friends with this disease and the treatment it requires. I feel equipped now to offer help and support to those people in my life. Jenni is a really knowledgeable teacher and the patients that she looks after are lucky to have her! The course content was just the right amount of theory and practical with plenty of opportunity to interact and make notes. The way the course was delivered really made it feel like I was in the room as opposed to sitting at home on zoom. Thank you and I look forward to doing some more training with you in future."

Yoga for Cancer Breast Cancer Workshop (1)

About the facilitator: Jenni Stone BWY Dip. MAR.

I have been running Yoga for Cancer training for Yoga Teachers Forum including a 7 week intensive training for yoga teachers, a yoga for cancer essentials workshop & breast cancer specialist training.  I have an oncology diploma with Middlesex School of Complementary Medicine.   In the years since I have continued to gain additional training including an oncology diploma with the Middlesex School of Complementary Medicine. I spent 2 years working in the North London Hospice and then several years at Cancerkin offering reflexology for cancer patients.  I have been teaching yoga for cancer at Maggie's Royal Free for the last 8 years and have a private practise where I offer both reflexology and one to one yoga with people with cancer.

I started my yoga journey way back in the 90’s after a trip to India. Upon my return I sought out a local yoga class in London and ever since then, yoga has been the constant thread that runs through my life. Yoga is something that I return to to maintain my physical, mental and emotional health. It has helped me through all life’s challenges, birth, death, love and loss. Yoga is such a powerful tool.  I have subsequently trained with many other teachers including Peter Blackaby, John Stirk and Uma-Dinsmore Tuli all of whom have informed the way I teach yoga to those with cancer.

My other big passion is women’s health and empowerment and I bring this knowledge to my work with women who have cancer.
