You will gain:

  • A clear understanding of the physiological fluctuating hormonal changes taking place during perimenopause and how they affect the pelvis
  • Yoga physical practices, breathwork, meditation and deep relaxation for perimenopause specifically focussed on the pelvis
  • Circle holding skills: how do we approach taboo subjects to reduce shame and increase feelings of acceptance and empowerment?
  • Tools and techniques to support the range of physical and emotional experiences of some when affected by issues including painful sex, bladder & bowel issues, UTIs, incontinence, prolapse, hysterectomy
  • Clear pathways to signpost outside of the remit of yoga for perimenopause - where yoga is useful and where a specialist women's health physio is required
  • A clear understanding the role of women's health physios and yoga teachers, how our work complements each other and how to work together, cross refer and create workshops together

This workshop will be equally balanced between knowledge of the benefits of pelvic health therapy from a medical perspective and practical yoga practice.

"Lovely peaceful room, it was so calm and felt good to be able to talk openly about perimenopause without judgement"

Feedback from yoga teachers who've attended our Perimenopause & Menopause Training:

"I thoroughly enjoyed this course, not only from an educational perspective but a personal level. It has left me feeling empowered and inspired to help others on their journey through perimenopause."

Natasha Whelan, Attendee, Perimenopause Training, May-June 2022

"The perimenopause training has been very inspiring, very well thought by Julia and Jane with a balanced amount of theory and practice and a huge amount of inspirational extra material available to us forever . I highly recommend this training to Yoga teachers and therapists looking for new integrative and inspirational tools to support women in the stage of perimenopause and women in general through the beauty and the challenges of being themselves in daily life."

Gaia Ceccarelli, Attendee, Perimenopause Training, May-June 2022

"The course exceeded my expectations! It provided theory, different models of the perimenopause and beyond, movement and breath practices, poetry and different readings and articles related to Peri-menopause and Menopause . As participants we shared our ideas through the discussion forum, sharings and practices in the sessions which was also hugely valuable. Jane and Julia led the group with sensitivity and enthusiasm, allowing there to be space for our contributions. Thank you so much."Rebecca Paterson, Attendee Perimenopause Training, Oct-Nov 2021

"A superbly well put together training course with the perfect balance of practice, theory and group conversation. Way and above exceeded my expectations and has offered me a radically different way to view my own experience of the perimenopause and as a result, a different lens to offer to those that I work with.  I really apprecaited being able to attend a weekly class, that was just a huge bonus that I found so nourishing and supportive. To receive the practice, to step out of the head of the student and to be nourished and cared for in that way, for me was profoundly transformative. It allowed the content to land in a way that no one has ever managed to date. Seeing my self care as being a seasonal process is life changing, I knew this of course, and had been taught it before, but somehow it did not land in a way that I felt able to embody it.
Charlotte Douglas, Attendee Perimenopause Training, Oct-Nov 2021

Feedback from Perimenopause Training Course:

"I have really enjoyed the peri-menopause teacher training. It was well presented and was full to the brim of knowledge and practices that I can use myself in the coming years and I look forward to being able to share with other women in my community. I liked the mix of styles that Jane and Julia both brought. ...Janes's Embodied Yoga Principles background brought a totally fresh element to the learning for me. It has been great - thank you."

Vicki Greer, Attendee, Perimenopause Training Jan/Feb 2022

"I thoroughly enjoyed this training. Jane and Julia ran a tight ship, so all content was covered. There were several opportunities to share with the other students, which bonded the group. The extra resources were exceptional, and all were available after the course, as were the tutors. All the students felt very supported and well informed. Thank you xx"

Kate Coulson, Attendee, Perimenopause Training June 2021

"The class on a Monday was a great way to start the week and set the tone. The online platform is a great way to navigate everything and not get distracted. Thank you for it all!!!!"

Julia Davis

About the facilitators:

Julia Davis

Julia co-created Peri/Menopause Facilitator Training with Jane Dancey in 2020.  This came out of our love of rites of passage work.  Julia is passionate about sharing practices that support the rhythms of womanhood from menarch to post menopause, respecting the vast range of experience of people who experience the menstrual cycle.  She believes that a world in which all people are literate in the cyclical nature of women is a world in which the cycles of all life will be respected.  Julia is an educator in eco-menstruation, and yoga that honours the cycles.

Her work is influenced by the grandmothers of menstruation Alexandra Pope & Jane Bennett - trailblazers of menarche, menstruality and menopause!  She supports the powerful work of Uma Dinsmore Tuli's Yoni Shakti the Movement and will be forever grateful to her for writing THE book!  Julia is delighted to be part of a strong community of people who are changing the perimenopause story and she is grateful to the trans, non-binary community & men for widening our experience and understanding of the awesome rite of passage that is menopause!

Niamh has been working as a pelvic health physiotherapist in North London for over 10 years and is a mum to 3 boys.
She is a full member of the POGP (Pelvic, Obstetric and Gynaecological Physiotherapists) and has a postgraduate certificate in advanced clinical practice in pelvic health. Women's health at any stage of life is a passion for her and she commonly assesses and treats conditions such as pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic pain, bladder & bowel issues and painful sex.
Perimenopause is an excellent point of life to take stock and address some of the niggling pelvic health issues that have not improved or may have worsened with hormonal or age related changes. Pelvic health physiotherapy can help women to connect to that area and gain strategies to improve.
Niamh is founder of Maternity Physio and Pelvic Health and is currently opening a clinic in N19 The Pelvic Academy, for treating pelvic health clients 1-1 and training up other practitioners to work in the field.
